Melamine foam is a foam-like material consisting of a formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer. The foam is manufactured by a number of manufacturers worldwide, most notably by Germany-based BASF under the name Basotect.
Magic Erasers are highly effective on many surfaces including walls, ceiling vents, baseboards, blinds, bathtubs, and many other places in the home. Adding water activates the surface of tiny filaments in the sponge making them ready to wipe away grime.
The Magic Eraser sponge is reusable for several uses although it does begin to break down and disintegrate with repeated uses.
Because the eraser works by scrubbing at the surface with tiny but extremely hard threads, you should not use on highly glossy or satin finishes.
Magic Eraser is not appropriate for paneling or wood finished surfaces. It will strip away the surface and create damage.
The Magic Eraser sponge does begin to break down after uses.
Magic Erasers are great for stove tops. I personally use with stainless steel or steel but I usually clean with creme cleanser first or use creme cleanser with Eraser, then wipe off with a spray and wipe. Eraser do a great job lifting grime without hard scrubbing which could cause damage. Stainless steel always use at the very least a non scratch scourer.
Oven - scrape the glass and oven with a razor first then use the eraser for stubborn stains.
Erasers are great for removing oil and spills but remember to re-clean after as we use it as an aid to life the grime prior to cleaning
